Silences
The answers he gives leave the same questions open
All this time on her hands eats a hole in her soul
They started their journey with a promise and passion
But the drift toward not caring is out of control
Once two were as one a singular notion
Where does it fly silently slip away
Just a shell of a union not that shiny tomorrow
Just a game they’re playing not that gleaming someday
And now their silences fill up the room
And the future looks more of the same
It’s not that they hate nor are there ill wishes
But forever together seems a sure losing game
So quick to say “yes” when things first started
So eager to please they were lost in the flame
The fire faded slowly not even the embers
Are left to reflect who’s to blame
